Concept Note on The Launch Event of the African Youth Architects ( AYA) July, 2019, Banjul- The Gambia

                                                             Background

 The African Youth Architects ( AYA) is a non-profit NGO, a non-partisan and a civil society youth-led organization officially registered in The Gambia, to serve as a continental youth-led nonprofit organization that aims at serving as a catalyst to monitoring programmes of action for youths to be mainly focused on the implementation of the World Programme of Action for Youth. 

The organization provides grant funding support to all African youths and their organizations across the continent. The goal of AYA is to make African youth organizations more capable of delivering their mandates to the youths of Africa in all sectors. AYA comprised of and has utilized potential members who are experts and youths, successfully administering the affairs of administration of the organization across Africa. The programmes of the organization provide basic leadership and capacity building trainings on language and culture, vocational skill education, public health, women empowerment, job creation, entrepreneurship, and the overall implementation of the World Programme of Action for Youths, the SDGs, and the AU AGENDA 2063. 

As the Mission Statement of the organization states: “to be a legitimate and an authentic voice for African youths and their organizations capable of representing young people worldwide on the continent of Africa to lead the development of their nations.




 The African Youth Architects aims to give young people a voice and empower them to contribute to the development of strategies that give young people everywhere a real opportunity to become independent and responsible global citizens. Accordingly, the AYA Gambia Chapter is organizing an event to launch the African Youth Architects in July, 2019 in Banjul-The Gambia. The launching event of the AYA is an opportunity to inform young people and others on education, its benefits, challenges and concerns. Hence, the African Youth Architects Framework on Youth, which plans to engage and empower young people through the performing arts during the launch of the organization. Performing art is a very strong medium to get messages across, raise voices and leave sustained impacts on the audience. On the occasion of the launching of the African Youth Architects, AYA, would like to hold an event, which would depict the lives of young Africans through different art forms, including poetry, dance, acting, films and music etc.



                                                          Objectives of the Event: 

The objectives of the launch event of the African Youth Architects are to:

 • Raise awareness on the opportunities and risks associated with youth unemployment in Africa, corruption and bad leadership, low education and illegal migration.


 • Highlight and present critical areas of the African Youth Architects Framework on Youth through interactive performance in various art forms.

 • Emphasize the vibrancy of youth unemployment, poverty, corruption and migration through visual and performing arts to offer a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities of youth related problems that are discussed in the report.


                                                         Main Theme of the Event: 

The event will shed light on the following theme related to the focus and findings of the African Youth Architects:

''One Culture, One Identity, Using the Creative Industry To Build The Africa We Want''

The event will gather different actors involved in youth activism and development, including young people, representatives from youth organizations, and representatives of the AU Youth Division, ECOWAS Youth Council, Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York, etc.
